TUIASI

Has around 13000 students within 62 engineering specializations (BSc), 84 Master of Science programmes, 13 doctoral domains organized at the level of 11 faculties and 10 doctoral schools with 478 Ph.D. students, 177 Ph.D. supervisors. TUIASI has an important research dimension, with 23 accredited research/excellence centres and laboratories focused on creating and transferring knowledge, especially in multi-disciplinary high-tech engineering areas. The Faculty of Textiles, Leather and Industrial Management Engineering is known for its high-quality study programs in textile, knitting, chemical finishing, clothing, leather, footwear and management. The faculty has the only one certified doctoral study program for textile, clothing and footwear from Romania.

The areas in which the researchers are specialised include Materials Testing, Footwear, Biomaterials, and the current lines of research represent a comprehensive approach to the study of Tribology and friction phenomena in the design of shoe soles and floors.

University of the Aegean

Was founded in 1984 and is a Network University of “academic ports of studies and research”, successfully established in 6 campuses spread across the Aegean Archipelago and is a unique natural, cultural and human environment to experience. UAEGEAN has strong partnerships with several National, European and International Universities, Organizations, Authorities, Citizens and is a strong social and economic stakeholder in 2 Greek Regions of the Aegean Archipelago: The Regions of the North and South Aegean and acts as Regional Innovator. A plethora of UAEGEAN’s research projects are designed to improve the regional Innovation Capabilities for Human Capital Development, Entrepreneurship & Technology Transfer, Career Development, and Mobility of Researchers.

CTCP

Is a private, non-profit organization, founded in 1986, with 483 private companies as members, with facilities in the north of Portugal near the largest industrial area of Footwear. CTCP employs 43 technicians, engineers and senior specialists and works with approximately 15 external consultants/trainers. CTCP aims at supporting all companies of Footwear cluster which is represented by more than 1500 SMEs from shoe industry, small entrepreneurs in the field of design and project engineering. The most relevant CTCP’s activities are: Quality Control, Consultancy, Training, Marketing and Promotion, Research and Development, Health & Safety, Environment, Business Intelligence, Studies and comparative Research.

Activ Ortopedic

Is a company located in Romania in the city of Bucharest acting as a medical devices supplier since 2001, with 5 subsidiaries all over the country and 25 employees. It is a manufacturer of prosthesis and orthosis of upper and lower limb, orthosis for vertebral column and orthopaedic shoes. They design and manufacture the orthopaedic footwear and insole correction in CAD CAM. Using modern equipment and software they can 3D scan foot data in STL data formats in order to provide it to 3D last software, create the lasts and make custom shoes, import and modify all types of last or to use an existing digital last to create new. They also produce orthopaedic footwear for persons with special needs.

CRE.THI.DEV.

Is a non-profit company aimed at community development through the research and development of action plans, focused on the local and social economies, mainly on the fields of life-long learning, environmental protection, employment and local development, throughout Greece. The company establishes close cooperation with local and regional authorities, government authorities and business associations in order to promote innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable development through research and the raising of awareness in local communities towards available development projects.

European Confederation of the Footwear Industry

The European Confederation of the Footwear Industry (CEC), was created more than 30 years ago. It collectively represents the footwear national associations and federations of the European Union (EU28). CEC is THE VOICE of the European footwear industry in Brussels vis-à-vis European Institutions, other international organizations, public authorities and other sectoral associations. Through the national associations and federations, CEC includes activities and stakeholders of the whole supply chain: from the collection of materials and components to the more common objective of recycling; from the manufacturers and retailers to the education and technologic centres.

Politecnico di Milano

Established in 1863 in Milan, Politecnico di Milano, is one of the leading science and technology universities in Europe, producing engineers, architects and designers through a variety of innovative specializing courses. POLIMI is organized in 12 Departments devoted to research, 6 Schools of Engineering, 2 School of Architecture and 1 School of Design, spread over 7 campuses in Northern Italy. In particular, the DESIGN Department is the 1st department in Italy which deals by statute with research and didactic in field of design. The DESIGN Department focuses its research (and educational) activities on theories, methods, tools of design for development of a design Culture in different field of application (communication, strategy, sustainability, food, fashion, services, mobility, local development, cultural heritage.).

Vibram SPA

Was founded in 1936 when founder Vitale Bramani decided to utilise rubber to sole his boots. The Vibram head office is based in Albizzate, Northern Italy, but other production and distribution facilities are situated throughout the world: Vibram has offices in North America (Vibram USA) and in Japan as well as factories in China. This organisational structure has enabled Vibram to become the world’s leading producer of rubber sole with a turnover of more than 150 M€ and more than 450 people worldwide. Vibram makes products for a vast range of sectors, including the Outdoors, the fashion industry, orthopaedic work and safety shoes and shoe repairs. Vibram designers and technical staff are totally committed to the realisation of custom models which meet the needs of the widest possible range of customer requirements, even the most demanding ones.

KLAVENESS Footwear SA

Is a Portuguese Footwear SME, established in 1988, employing now 155 people producing high add value footwear (especially comfort, formative and orthopaedics, footwear with individual adjustments and CNC orthotics) and bases its competitiveness in the technical know-how. KLAVENESS turnover is approximately 7 million €, being 100% from exports, with export markets being almost solely the Scandinavian countries, due to the fact that the mother-house (Klaveness Skofabrikk A/S) which holds 100% of the capital, is located in Norway, with branches in Sweden and Finland. KLAVENESS plays an important role in the employability of the town where its facilities are located. It has always given an outstanding role to Human Resources development, seeking their qualifications by promoting training oriented to vocational and non-vocational/transversal skills, but also as a mean to achieve competitiveness.

Instituto Tecnológico del Calzado y Conexas

Is a non-profit organisation created in 1971. It is a service organisation developing scientific and technical activities addressing the needs of the footwear industries that cannot normally be solved individually by the companies due to their small size. Their staff of over 140 professionals includes experts in chemistry, physics, biomechanics, computer science, electronics, ICT, design, CAD/CAM, manufacturing tools and processes, art and design, and robotics. INESCOP coordinates the CEN TC 309 “Footwear” standardization committee. INESCOP has a network of 7 laboratories covering the main industrial areas of footwear. 6.000 square meters facilities offering laboratory and measurement equipment and testing facilities, and even an own pilot demonstrator for marketing/commercialization solutions: The Customised Footwear Pilot Store.

ELSEVIE

ELSEVIE, the Hellenic Association of Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters, was established in 1976 and constitutes the main representative body of the Greek footwear industry. Members of the association are the 90 largest companies of the sector. Activities include: Representation of national and international level. On international level the association is a member of the European Confederation of the footwear Industry (CEC). Information and cooperation: Elsevie informs its members on economic, managerial, technological and commercial issues by means of meetings, collection and procession of statistical data and development of dialogue and apprehension of the sector’s issues. Fairs and delegations: It supports the HELLENIC SHOE FAIR in Athens as well as the sector’s participation in fairs abroad. It also organizes commercial missions to countries that show considerable interest for Greek exports and renders services to foreign buyers.

EVATHINK

Is a young company formed by a highly skilled and technical team with extensive experience in EVA manufacturing EVA; most of our employees and coaching staff hold more than 20 years of industrial experience. We have over 9 years experience in the development and manufacture of EVA plates for orthopedic applications. 95% of our production is destined for the manufacture of plates for orthopedic, exporting between 85% and 90% of the total. Our main markets are in Europe mainly Germany, France, Switzerland and Belgium. We have a wide range of products for orthopedics, plates with various densities, thicknesses and grades. We manufacture standard materials and other technical materials developed and designed exclusively for several orthopedic applications, as might be material with high resilience, large rebound capacity, high durability, molding, suitable for thermoforming materials specific type milling systems CAD/CAM, etc …. We use raw materials of sanitary quality.

Virtual Campus

Is a development, training and consulting SME in the areas of Technology Enhanced Learning , Serious Games and Information Systems. Its vision is to actively promote the development of the Knowledge Society by supporting public and private entities in the process of designing and developing strategies and projects that lead to increased societal benefits. Virtual Campus staff forms a multidisciplinar team with academic background in areas like Education, Psychology, Engineering, Management and Information Systems. Staff experience includes participation and coordination of projects financed by National and European programmes like LLP, Erasmus+, ESF, LEONARDO, SOCRATES, IST and EQUAL.
