SciLED Webinar for Designers and Product Managers in Greece

The Greek ScilLED webinar took place on 10-17th  May 2021 and  was divided in two phases. During the first day, a webinar on “Next Generation Footwear Design” took place, where experts from the industry and academia analysed their views for designing comfortable, sustainable and fashionable footwear. A one-week workshop-design challenge commenced the day after in order to allow for the future designers to get in touch with the field of footwear design.

The webinar was open to everyone interested to learn about modern footwear design. The workshop-design challenge was addressed to the students of the product-design engineering departments of University of the Aegean, University of West Macedonia, University of West Attica, and the VET center Askardamykti.

The event had the following topics:

  • The Greek footwear industry and its prospects (Meletis Karabinis, ELSEVIE)
  • Design of comfortable and fashionable footwear (Roger Vrechopoulos, BOSS SHOES)
  • Design and branding of footwear (Spyros Chaniotakis, CHANIOTAKIS SHOES)
  • Next generation textiles for sustainable footwear design and manufacture (Vassilios Fasois, ATHENS KNIT LAB)
  • Sustainable footwear design (Anastasios Tzerachoglou, University of West Attica)
  • Post-high school studies in footwear design (Despoina Malli, ASKARDAMYKTI SCHOOL)
  • The three pillars of the next generation footwear: comfort, performance, sustainability (Zoi Koutkalaki, University of the Aegean)
